It has been said that everything was destroyed in Tibet – so what’s left to see?

Much of the cultural heritage was destroyed between 951-1979. Whilst Tibetans in Tibet are making every effort to re-establish their culture in the face of officialdom, you may come away with the idea that there’s not much culture left. It’s there alright, just it’s not everywhere; you’ve got to go looking for it sometimes. In towns and villages all over there are temples, monasteries and convents being rebuilt. But in Lhasa the big monasteries of Sera, Drepung and Ganden are tightly controlled by Government authorities
